GH’s Sam Temporarily Recast With Lindsay Hartley Again

Tags:

There have been quite a few sudden recasts in Port Charles of late, but this one we can give you a heads up about before you see it on screen! Prepare to see Lindsay Hartley filling in as Sam McCall on GENERAL HOSPITAL for a handful of episodes beginning on Thursday, Feb. 3!

According to Soap Opera Digest, Kelly Monaco took a little time off from the soap when it resumed production in January after the holidays, so ABC once again tapped Lindsay Hartley to step into her shoes. The actress previously played Sam for a brief period back in August 2020 when GH resumed production after shutting down during the onset of the COVID pandemic.

Hartley is probably best remembered for playing Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald on the NBC sudser PASSIONS, but she has also played Cara Castillo on ALL MY CHILDREN and Arianna Hernandez on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. More recently, Hartley has appeared in numerous Lifetime movies like Deadly Exchange, Killer Twin, and My Mother’s Split Personalities. She has also written and directed some of them!

Monaco first found fame in daytime playing Olivia “Livvie” Locke on the GH spinoff PORT CHARLES, and when that soap came to an end in 2003, joined the cast of GH proper as the newly-created character of Sam McCall. She has played the role since then, with only the brief interruption in 2020 when Hartley filled in. (And now, of course, this one!)

However, this latest recast is once again only temporary and Monaco is already back on set filming as we speak, so fans needn’t worry — she will return as Sam before you know it!
