Sasha’s Pregnancy on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need to Know
Sasha is pregnant on GENERAL HOSPITAL, which has naturally led viewers to speculate and wonder if portrayer Sofia Mattsson is pregnant in real life! Sometimes soaps will go out of their way to cover up an actress’ real-life pregnancy, as GH did last year with Amanda Setton (whose character of Brook Lynn did eventually end up pregnant on the show, forcing the actress to wear a fake baby bump for a while since she’d already given birth herself!). So while some fans believe that Sasha’s baby bump is padding provided by production, others suspect the actress herself is expecting.
After Sasha’s baby bump made a few appearances, Mattsson finally publicly announced it was the real deal and she is actually pregnant! The daytime star also surprised many back in May when she celebrated her anniversary with husband Thomas Payton… her fifth wedding anniversary! In fact, over the past year, some folks like Emily Wilson (ex-Ellie, GH) and Ingo Rademacher’s (Jax, GH) wife Ehiku announced pregnancies shortly before they were actually due to give birth. So that seems to be the trend!
On-screen, Sasha Gilmore wound up pregnant after her one-night stand with Brando Corbin at the garage where he works. She was cold and distant to him when he tried to talk to her afterward, and it was later revealed she was worried because she was pregnant. Cyrus Renault, who had grown disturbingly attached to Sasha, was upset to hear the news and she tried to protect Brando by lying that she’d slept with a random guy whose name she didn’t even remember.
Thankfully, Cyrus was soon out of the picture, arrested for multiple crimes, and looking at a long jail sentence, but the couple wasn’t able to celebrate their new family quite yet because Brando’s interfering mother, Gladys Corbin (who was the one who spilled the beans to Cyrus in the first place!) has decided to stick around Port Charles to help her son as he prepares to become a father. Meanwhile, Sasha and Brando still haven’t even gone on what you’d consider a first date!
Things started off complicated for Sasha’s pregnancy, and they don’t look to be settling down anytime soon, so stay tuned to GH to see how the storyline develops!
