Sean Blakemore Reveals He’s Leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL!

Tags:

When GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Shawn told Alexis in the Feb. 25 episode that he’d be moving from Port Charles to San Francisco work on a potential West Coast expansion deal for The Invader, the scene was actually one of portrayer Sean Blakemore’s final moments as the ex-con. The casting exit was confirmed by the actor himself on Twitter after a worried follower fretted that Blakemore had been let go from GH.

“I appreciate you and all my wonderful supporters,” the Emmy winner replied. “I was absolutely not let go. It was my decision to exit the show because of other obligations.”

Blakemore originated the role of Jordan’s ex — who was eventually revealed to be T.J.’s biological father — back in 2011. He played the role until 2015 when Shaw was written out and sentenced to Pentonville for shooting Hayden. Of course, he didn’t commit that crime (Nikolas was responsible), but Shawn spent years locked up for the murder.

The actor returned to the canvas in April 2021 as a contract player when Shawn was proven innocent and took over The Invader, turning the tabloid into a respectable publication and partnering with Alexis. In recent months, the soap has teased a potential romance between the business partners, but whatever was brewing between the colleagues has now been cooled.

While Blakemore did not divulge what the “other obligations” on his schedule are, he did leave the door open for a possible return to GH somewhere down the road. “The GH family has been great to me. Who knows what’s to come in the near future,” he concluded his comment, later adding in another tweet that he “may have to show up” to some of the popular GH Fantasy Events that are held across the country.

There’s been no official word from GH as to Blakemore’s final air date, but Shawn will inform T.J. about his move in the Monday, Feb. 28, episode, likely marking the end of the actor’s run.
