See Jon Lindstrom’s Very First Speaking Role!

Tags:

Soap fans know Jon Lindstrom well for his Daytime Emmy Award-nominated performances as Kevin and Ryan on GENERAL HOSPITAL or Craig Montgomery on AS THE WORLD TURNS. They might also have watched him playing Kevin on GH spinoff PORT CHARLES, Paul Jarre on GENERATIONS, or Mark McCormick on SANTA BARBARA.

The actor has also appeared in numerous films and primetime television series during his lengthy career, but fans might not know that he got his big break in the 1982 TV movie The Facts of Life Goes to Paris! A fan of the movie (and GH) tweeted out a clip of Lindstrom’s brief scene, expressing their surprise to suddenly recognize him.

“My first on-camera speaking role!” Lindstrom revealed. “Before this, I’d only done an ‘extra’ job to get my SAG card. Once this scene wrapped, they all flew to Paris. I drove home to Hollywood. Casting director was Eve Brandstein. Thanks, Eve!”

In the scene from the beginning of the movie, the Eastland girls are waiting for their flight to France when a young man played by Lindstrom approaches Lisa Whelchel’s Blair to ask if the seat next to her is taken. Told that it is, he tries flirting by saying he’s sorry to hear that, and Blair — in typical fashion — retorts: “I know you are.” And with that, Lindstrom gives an eye roll and wanders off, presumably to find a seat next to someone not quite so full of themselves!

Following his appearance as “Young Man” in The Facts of Life Go to Paris, Lindstrom went on to appear in primetime series like VOYAGERS! and SQUARE PEGS before making his daytime debut in SANTA BARBARA in 1985. And the rest, as they say, is history!
