Soap Star Maura West Celebrates Her 27th Anniversary!

Tags:

Please join us in congratulating Maura West, who is celebrating her 27th anniversary in daytime! The Emmy Award-winning actress debuted as Carly Tenney on AS THE WORLD TURNS on April 11, 1995. “Thank you for all the love,” she tweeted as fans cheered the accomplishment. “I appreciate it so much.”

And that day when Carly first came to Oakdale in search of her “cousin” Rosanna and the Cabot fortune remains a treasured memory for the soap star. “I remember my first air date very well,” West recalled. “I drove from New York City to surprise my mother and watch with her. She was at work in Springfield, MA. We watched with her co-workers in the conference room. I would be nothing without my momma.”

West joined the cast of ATWT in April 1995 and remained until May 1996, then returned in September 1997 and continued playing Carly Tenney Snyder right up until the CBS soap’s final episode on September 17, 2010. During that impressive run, the actress earned seven Daytime Emmy Award nominations in both the Supporting and Lead Actress categories, taking home the gold in 2007 and 2010 for Lead.

Following ATWT’s cancellation, West then joined the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as a recast of scheming villainess Diane Jenkins. Unfortunately, that run was very brief — she first appeared in October 2010 and was killed off in August 2011, just short of a year later.

Then, in 2013, ABC snatched up the talented performer to play the newly-created role of Ava Jerome on GENERAL HOSPITAL. She made her debut on May 8, 2013, and is still playing the vixen to this day. During those years, West earned another five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress, winning in 2015.

Soap fans have been lucky to have been enjoying West’s award-winning performances for the past 27 years and we look forward to many, many more years of them to come!
