Sonny and Nina’s Song on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need To Know

No matter how viewers feel about the Sonny and Nina relationship on GENERAL HOSPITAL, many were curious about the beautiful tune to which the couple danced in the March 24 episode.

When Nina found Sonny covering for Phyllis at Charlie’s Pub, her eyes fell upon some old 45s on the counter and he explained that Phyllis was considering installing a vintage jukebox but it would take up too much space. When one particular 45 caught her eye, Nina tried to remember how it went, singing the lyric “When I wake up in the morning” in different tempos. Sonny called the song up on his phone and the pair enjoyed a lovely dance in the empty bar, flashing back to simpler, better times at the Tan-O.

The only thing is that it’s unlikely that this particular song actually exists on a vinyl 45! While it may sound like a classic old-school tune from the 50s or 60s, “Better Days” by Rob Clove was actually released back in 2018! (And boy, isn’t that just the perfect song for Sonny and Nina as they wistfully look back on their own better days…)

Clove is a songwriter, saxophonist, and actor from Fayetteville, NC, who is now based in New York City. After getting his big break opening for the rapper Nas in 2016, he has appeared in the musicals Bandstand and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. Clove also released his original EP Energy of Humanity in 2016. Both the EP and “Better Days” can be listened to on your favorite music streaming services, and you can watch the official music video for the full version of the song right here!
