GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Tiffany Remembers Her Life With Sean

Five months after GENERAL HOSPITAL legend John Reilly passed away, the soap paid tribute to the late star and his beloved alter ego, WSB secret agent Sean Donely, with a beautiful memory-filled episode that aired on May 21. Several familiar faces appeared in the special show as Port Charles residents Monica, Mac, Felicia, Laura, Robert, and Anna traveled to Ireland for Sean’s funeral. Robin met the group in County Kerry, where they were joined by Sean’s daughter, Annie (played by Reilly’s real-life daughter, Caitlin Reilly) — and off-camera, reunited with Sean’s widow, Tiffany Hill Donely.

In the weeks leading up to the tribute episode, GH executive producer Frank Valentini teased that the episode would include a surprise return, and long-time fans were thrilled that the special guest was none other than Tiffany’s portrayer, Sharon Wyatt. Although the actress did not appear on camera, Wyatt’s voice — in Tiffany’s Southern drawl — was heard in a two-way phone conversation with old friend Laura.

Not having had a chance to speak with Tiffany at the funeral service, Laura stepped outside of the inn the Port Charles friends were staying at to call Sean’s widow and catch up with her dear old friend. The phone call not only reconnected two iconic GH characters, but it framed a series of flashbacks featuring archival footage of Sean and Tiffany and their whirlwind love affair.

In Wyatt’s voiceover, Tiffany recalled the wonderful years she spent with her husband as scenes flashed on the screen including a playfully romantic kiss between Sean and Tiffany, “Uncle Sean” goofing around with a 7-year-old Robin, and Sean dragging his kicking and screaming bride down the stairs of the Quartermaine mansion on the day of their wacky 1988 wedding.

“What a blessed life I’ve had. From the moment Sean walked into my life until the second he left it,” Tiffany recalled, going on to remember her “heartbreakingly handsome” husband as being hysterically funny and always having a twinkle in his eye. “But for over 35 years, we have lived the most magical life together.”

WSB agent Sean and B-movie actress Tiffany were a popular couple during the golden era of GH, navigating the ups and downs of marriages, affairs, murder charges, poisonings, and shootings (as many Port Charles couples do!) before finding their happily ever after. Their last joint appearance was on GENERAL HOSPITAL’s SOAPnet spin-off, NIGHT SHIFT, in 2008, when they paid dear friend Robert a visit as he battled colon cancer.
