Wally Kurth Opens up About Having Jane Elliot Back on GH
Fans weren’t the only ones excited to have Jane Elliot back on GENERAL HOSPITAL as the irrepressible Tracy Quartermaine. TV son Wally Kurth (Ned) was just as happy to welcome her back into the fold.
“I love Jane, love having her back,” he declared to Soap Opera Digest. “It’s just great. I mean, it just feels like GH for me when she’s around and I feel like we’re already back into our rhythm.”
Elliot joined the cast of GH back in 1978 and quickly became a fan favorite as Tracy, coming and going over the decades. The actress actually first worked with Kurth back when she played Anjelica Deveraux on DAYS OF OUR LIVES from 1987-89. And they worked closely, given that Anjelica had an affair with Kurth’s character, Justin Kiriakis!
The pair were reunited when she left DAYS in 1989 and returned to GH, with Kurth then joining the soap in 1991 as Tracy’s son, Ned Ashton. So the two actors have been working together for decades and have become quite close off-camera as well.
“We had lunch the other day and got caught up on everything,” Kurth confided. “Jane and I have known each other for a long time and I have so much respect for her. I can’t hide anything from her — she picks up on everything! She knows me really well and she loves me and she holds me accountable.”
Sounds just like Tracy and Ned… well aside from the constant bickering and occasional backstabbing!
