Watch GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Tribute to Stuart Damon

The soap world was heartbroken when GENERAL HOSPITAL star Stuart Damon (Alan) died on June 29 at the age of 84. And while his friends and co-stars shared their own heartfelt tributes to the late actor, GH executive producer Frank Valentini promised an on-air tribute as well and it appeared at the very end of the episode that aired on August 9.

Although some fans may have hoped for a special episode full of flashbacks as the Quartermaines remembered their patriarch in the same way that GH paid tribute to John Reilly and his character of Sean Donely, this wasn’t that. While there have been reports that GH is planning a special episode honoring Damon and his contributions to the legacy of Port Charles, that will take time to create. For now, the soap honored Damon’s passing with a montage of scenes of Alan through the years, including memorable moments like sliding down the banister at the Quartermaine mansion, reading the Christmas story at the hospital, and playing the Cowardly Lion at the Nurses Ball.

Unfortunately, ABC didn’t make the special tribute montage available as a separate video, but it is included on this clip of the last five minutes of the August 9 episode… you just need to fast-forward to 4:45, which is where the tribute begins.

Alan Quartermaine was beloved by viewers for over three decades, from his first appearance in 1977 to his death in 2007 and his final ghostly visit in 2014. While this tribute may be brief, it will certainly bring back wonderful memories of this iconic daytime character and the incredibly talented actor who played him so well.
