Will Kristina Return to GENERAL HOSPITAL? — Lexi Ainsworth Speaks Out!
If you follow GENERAL HOSPITAL star Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina) on Instagram, then you know that the beautiful actress has been traveling across Europe for the last few months. Her adventures have had Ainsworth making stops in Italy, France, Turkey, and Greece — but does her passport have room for a return trip to Port Charles?
Ever since she kicked off her European tour, Ainsworth has promised her followers that she “would love to” come back to GH at some point and that she was available to return “when they need me.” The actress went into more detail about her open-ended trip and her plans for the future when she joined her TV dad, Maurice Benard (Sonny), during an Instagram Live chat.
“I’m just waiting for a reason to come back,” Ainsworth explained to Benard, adding that she was enjoying indulging in some self-care after a particularly difficult breakup with a long-term boyfriend she’d lived with for five years. “I’m having like, an Eat Pray Love moment.
For those unaware of the reference, Eat Pray Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything is the 2006 memoir written by Elizabeth Gilbert, who traveled the world following her bitter divorce in search of finding happiness again. The book quickly became a best-seller, empowering readers to reclaim their own lives, and was adapted into a movie starring Julia Roberts in 2010.
Following her break-up — which Ainsworth says was “a lot” — the actress decided to embrace the message behind Gilbert’s memoir. “With auditions being remote, and I’m not filming on [GH], I thought, ‘Well, I have nothing going on, so I might as well travel and find myself,’” she explained.
Ainsworth set out on her journey back in March, flying to Rome on a one-way ticket. Along the way, she’s met up with friends in Hampstead, England, and Cannes, France, and even ran into GH co-star Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) in London. But Ainsworth has found a great appreciation for all the time she’s spent solo. “If anyone has the opportunity to do a trip by themselves,” she shared, “you learn a lot.”
The last time the actress was on GH was for a handful of episodes back in February, when Kristina helped Sonny plan a romantic evening for Carly. Of course, things went awry and instead of reuniting with Carly that night, Sonny ended up getting caught by his wife while he was in bed with Nina. But Benard teased that there may be more Sonny and Kristina scenes in the near future. “You would know before me!” Ainsworth told her TV dad with a laugh. “Stay tuned, I guess!”
