DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Nadia Bjorlin Says Goodbye to the Departing Bryan Dattilo (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

Fans of DAYS OF OUR LIVES were surprised when Bryan Dattilo tweeted that his time at the soap was coming to an end, and now Lucas Horton has headed off to Europe. His co-stars were also sad to see him go, especially on-screen love interest Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe). “Lucas leaving Salem was very sudden,” she confided to Soaps In Depth. “We both didn’t know that and it made me sad. I love Bryan and I loved working with him.”

During Dattilo’s last stint on the soap, Lucas started a romance with Chloe and they actually eloped before he discovered she’d cheated on him and filed for an annulment before leaving town. When he returned to Salem, Lucas rekindled things with Chloe, which thrilled her portrayer. “It was interesting that they revisited our relationship almost 10 years later,” Bjorlin mused. “I felt like it was a really different dynamic this time because we’d both sort of grown up on and off camera and we both [brought] all this other life experience into this new, sweet relationship. We were both there for each other at a time when we both needed each other and were both in a bad place.”

The actress also praised Dattilo’s work in his most recent storyline when Lucas was crushed to learn that Baby Bonnie wasn’t actually his child. “I feel like it was some of the best work that I’ve seen him do,” Bjorlin declared. “He genuinely broke my heart with those scenes where he finds out the baby is his and then it wasn’t and Chloe had to break it to him. All that stuff was so easy to play because he’s such a nice guy, too. A lot of time with Lucas, what you see is what you get. And that’s not far off Bryan.”

Still, Bjorlin is optimistic that Lucas will make another return to DAYS someday in the future. “It’s never goodbye in Salem,” she explained. “It’s a goodbye for now. But you never know what’s gonna happen!”
