David Fumero Recovering From Fourth Cervical Disc Replacement

Tags:

Please join us in sending best wishes to ONE LIFE TO LIVE alum David Fumero (Cristian), who just underwent his fourth cervical disc replacement! “More metal in my body means I’m closer to becoming Wolverine!” the actor joked on Instagram. “My ultimate motivator.

“Thanks to Dr. Todd Lanman!” Fumero continued. “Thank you, sir, for your talent and dedication and love for what you do! You have been a savior in my life! Looking forward to training and getting back to optimal conditioning. I wouldn’t have that choice if it weren’t for you. I’m so blessed and lucky and grateful!”

Fans who watched Fumero on OLTL and have continued to follow his career into film and primetime know that he has always been in terrific shape so requiring back surgery was something that could have had a very serious effect on his career. “Once David Fumero realized that he needed back surgery, he came to see me,” Dr. Lanman said on his own Instagram. “David’s busy acting schedule presented a challenge. Not only did he need to find quick relief from chronic pain, he also needed full mobility. The answer was a multi-level artificial disc replacement surgery.”

Artificial disc replacement is a newer treatment but a significant improvement over the older method of spinal fusion, Dr. Lanman explained. Although the procedure is also invasive, current studies show better patient outcomes. “Peeps, take care of your spine!” Fumero urged. “And if you’re dealing with any chronic issues, make sure you look this guy up!”

Many of Fumero’s former OLTL co-stars wished him a speedy and full recovery in the comments of his post and we’d like to join in that chorus. Get well soon!
