OLTL Alum Lisa Banes in Critical Condition After Hit-And-Run Accident
Actress Lisa Banes is in critical condition following a hit-and-run motorized scooter accident at the intersection of West 64th St. and Amsterdam Ave. near Lincoln Center in New York City. ABC Daytime fans may remember her from her role as Eve McBain on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, mother to Michael Easton’s John McBain.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 65-year-old female pedestrian lying on the roadway with severe head trauma. EMS responded to the location and transported the aided female to Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition,” the NYPD said in a statement to Variety.
According to a representative for Banes, she was crossing the street when the motorized scooter ran a red light and struck her, immediately fleeing the scene. The rep confirmed that the actress is in critical condition but was unable to provide specifics regarding her injuries. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
Banes has appeared in Broadway shows like Rumors, High Society, Accent on Youth, and Present Laughter. On the big screen, she can be seen in The Hotel New Hampshire, Cocktail, and Gone Girl among others. And on television, she’s guest-starred on shows ranging from STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE to THE KING OF QUEENS to DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. In 2004, Banes joined the cast of OLTL for a two-month stint as Eve McBain, who came to Llanview and caught up with her sons, John and Michael before dating Bo Buchanan and then being abducted by the Music Box Killer!
Our thoughts are with Banes’ family and friends during this difficult time and we wish her a speedy recovery.
