Hollywood can be a daunting place for an actress, struggling to showcase talent in an industry that often seems more focused on looks. And daytime star Melissa Archer took to Twitter to share one experience when she was told “No” and refused to listen!
“I had an agent once tell me that at a size four I was too fat and all I could hope for was the homely friend parts,” she revealed. “I left that agent, got managers that believed in me, a new agent, and booked a lead role for over a decade on a TV show. So eff what people think. #DoYou.”
That lead role, of course, was playing spunky Natalie Buchanan on ONE LIFE TO LIVE from 2001 until the soap’s cancellation in 2011, as well as the short-lived online revival in 2013. Archer also enjoyed a stint as Serena Mason on NBC sudser DAYS OF OUR LIVES from 2014-15 and appeared in streaming soaps YOUTHFUL DAZE, THE BAY, and BEACON HILL. The actress is still very busy, recently revealing that she and OLTL castmate and friend, Jessica Morris, have written a new movie called Web of Deceit that they’re also starring in!
When asked by a fan if this particular agent is still in the business, Archer flatly replied: “No.” And honestly, we’re not surprised to hear it! That’s no way to treat your clients! While viewers might be disappointed they don’t get to see Archer on their TV screens daily right now, they can look forward to seeing her in all of her new projects.
