ONE LIFE TO LIVE Actress Arlene Dahl Dead at 96
Veteran actress of film and television Arlene Dahl has died at the age of 96 at her Manhattan home on Nov. 29. The sad news was shared by her son, Lorenzo Lamas (ex-Hector, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) in a heartfelt Facebook post. “Mom passed away this morning in New York,” he wrote. “She was the most positive influence on my life. I will remember her laughter, her joy, her dignity, as she navigated the challenges she faced. Never an ill word about anyone crossed her lips. Her ability to forgive left me speechless at times.
“She truly was a force of nature,” Lamas continued, “and as we got closer in adult life, I leaned on her more and more as my life counselor and the person I knew that lived and loved to the fullest. My sympathies go to her loving husband, Marc Rosen, who, for the last 37 years, made her life so wonderful and joyous. Love you, mom, forever.”
Dahl started her career as a model and did some stage work before being discovered and signed to a contract with MGM. She appeared in films like Scene of the Crime, Three Little Words, Sangaree, Here Come the Girls, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.
In 1981, Dahl joined the cast of ABC soap ONE LIFE TO LIVE as Lucinda Schenck Wilson. Originally planned as a short-term guest star role, she was later offered a one-year contract to continue playing Lucinda from 1983-84. Playing the manipulative mother of Mimi King, Dahl shared the screen with daytime legend Phil Carey (Asa).
Later in her career, Dahl branched out into cosmetics, launching a fragrance company, and also wrote numerous books on astrology and beauty.
Our thoughts are with Dahl’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
