Ryan Carnes Has a Special Message for GENERAL HOSPITAL Fans!

Tags:

Even though the appearance wasn’t for a joyous occasion, fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Lucas were glad to see his portrayer, Ryan Carnes, back on the canvas last week as the soap honored the late Jacklyn Zeman and her beloved alter ego, Bobbie Spencer, with an on-screen memorial service. Now that the actor has wrapped his comeback, Carnes has taken to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to his followers.

“Thank you to everyone who tuned into the GH farewell episodes last week and celebrated Jackie’s life with us,” he wrote. “It was a true honor to pay homage and give proper tribute to such a kind, beautiful person and powerhouse actress.”

Praising the episodes for being “extremely well done,” Carnes concluded his post by sharing one last tribute to his former TV mom, who died in May after a short battle with cancer. “She is sorely missed, but I sure am grateful the world got her for as long as it did and that we got to send her off with so much love.”

Carnes joined the cast of GH in 2004. He exited the soap the following year, at which point Lucas Jones was recast with Ben Hogestyn for about a year. In 2014, Carnes reprised the role and was heavily involved in a dramatic new storyline as Brad and Lucas fell in love and adopted a baby. However, after the Wiley baby switch was revealed in early 2020, Lucas’ screen time diminished once Brad was sent to prison. That November, Matt Trudeau was tapped to play Lucas for a handful of episodes, with no recast announcement made by the soap.

The actor’s post was met with an outpouring of support from his followers. Replying to one message, he wrote that “It was very special” to be included in Bobbie’s memorial service. And to the many posters who were hopeful that Carnes might again bring Lucas back to Port Charles in the future, the actor seemed to share the same wish, replying to several with the praying hands emoji.
