Gladys on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL — Everything You Need to Know

Even if the character of Gladys Pope on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL isn’t familiar, viewers will likely recognize her portrayer, the legendary comedienne Phyllis Diller. The actress made her first appearance on B&B in February 1995 and continued to drop in occasionally for cameos until 2012, when the actress passed away shortly after her final appearance aired. But if you need a refresher on the lady, that’s where we come in!

Gladys Pope was a beautician who was first seen helping create a disguise for Taylor Hayes, who wanted to visit her ailing father in the hospital without the rest of her family knowing she was there since she was presumed dead. She was next seen ogling Dylan Shaw as he stripped at the Beverly Hills Hideaway and shortly thereafter visited Sally Spectra to give her a new hairdo.

In 1997, Gladys returned to help Sally with her costume for a big party and was seen later that year working in a salon, eagerly gossiping about the latest Forrester and Spectra scandals with Lauren Fenmore. But things turned awkward when they talked about Stephanie and she turned out to be sitting nearby! The stylist also helped give Amber Moore a makeover so she could woo Rick Forrester and a few months later, did the same for her cousin, Becky Moore as well as future Forrester model Kimberly Fairchild.

In 2003, Gladys and Sally disguised themselves as repairmen to infiltrate Thorne’s house to try and get him back together with Macy. Later that year, she helped videotape Macy’s wedding to con man Deacon. The next year, Gladys also videotaped the birth of Thorne and Darla’s daughter, Aly. She also used her talents to make Sally look like shipping magnate Masssimo Marone to get Spectra creations sold in his store. The last time Gladys resurfaced was in 2012 where she was doing various odd jobs, having fallen on hard times. Also licensed to officiate weddings, she offered to help make Eric and Stephanie man and wife in time for what would have been their 50th anniversary.
