Jennifer Finnigan Opens Up About Her Little Girl’s Acting Debut!
Like mother, like daughter! Longtime soap viewers may remember when Jennifer Finnigan won a trio of Daytime Emmy Awards for playing Brooke’s daughter, Bridget, on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL. These days, the former B&B star is lighting up the screen on the CBC series MOONSHINE, which airs in her native Canada. And when a younger version of Finnigan’s character was needed for flashback scenes in a recent episode, her young daughter, Ella Jack, fit the bill perfectly!
Finnigan stars in the dramedy as Lidia, whose parents own a ramshackle summer resort called The Moonshine, in Nova Scotia. As Ken and Bea make plans to retire, their squabbling adult children battle over who will take control of the family business. The storyline of the Oct. 26 episode — titled “Who is the Dead Guy?”— flashed back to Lidia’s childhood, creating a perfect scenario for Finnigan’s daughter to make her television debut.
“Some pics from one year ago, filming tonight’s episode of MOONSHINE,” Finnigan captioned an Instagram photo dump. “This episode is so special to me because my little girl, EJ, played young me! Her on-screen debut and I cried (many times) my eyes out with pride.”
EJ’s role in the episode wasn’t originally planned, added Finnigan. “It was a last-minute decision to let her do it,” continued the actress, who is married to actor Jonathan Silverman of Weekend at Bernie’s fame. “I certainly didn’t picture my (at the time) 3-year-old ever doing an acting gig. I’m so protective of her and I certainly won’t be making a habit of it! But it’s my set, it’s a safe pace, and everyone was supportive and gentle with her.”
As the daughter of two professional actors, it’s no surprise that EJ was a natural in front of the camera! “She freakin’ nailed it!” raved the proud mom. “And I was so damn proud of the smart, brave, girl she is. Love you to the moon, Ella Jack!”
