John McCook Speaks Out About His Controversial B&B Storyline
The love triangle of Eric, Quinn, and Carter has taken a turn on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL that has caused quite an uproar with viewers. But Eric’s portrayer, John McCook, sat down in his dressing room at the studio to share his thoughts with fans. “There’s a pretty complicated story going on right now,” he allowed. “I understand that. But I want to thank you for watching. I know there are a lot of different reactions and opinions about what’s going on here right now but the important thing is that you’re watching and you’re all engaged in the story.”
Eric took Quinn back after she cheated on him with Carter, but now, unable to satisfy his wife sexually, he’s given her permission to seek that physical pleasure with Carter again! This controversial development has left many B&B fans upset, and McCook understands their frustrations. “Eric Forrester is my friend,” he confided. “That’s how I think of him. He’s not me, but he’s my friend. And I’ve been with him for a lot of years. And I’ve seen him through a lot of different evolutions. His happiness and his sadness… watching him make good decisions and bad decisions I don’t really agree with sometimes.
“But as far as this one goes, there will be a resolution one of these days,” McCook added. “And the best thing about it is that you’re here with me. So hang in there. Love you for watching. And stay there with us, okay? It’s a good story.”
Co-star Rena Sofer (Quinn) responded to her TV husband’s video message with a heartfelt comment. “You are one of my favorite people ever,” she expressed. “You are grace and class personified. You know my feelings about this story and I think you expressed yourself in the best way possible.”
One thing McCook is right about is that being a soap opera, the story will continue to twist and turn as it goes forward, evolving and changing over time as all storylines do. And he should know, having been in the industry since 1975! (McCook played Lance Prentiss on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS before joining B&B as one of its original cast members in 1987.) So regardless of your feelings towards this particular plot, take his advice and stay tuned because you never know what tomorrow will bring!
