THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL

Marie Osmond Teases Her B&B Appearance

In addition to her singing and hosting, Marie Osmond has also done some acting during her extensive show biz career. However, she’s never done daytime before, and as soap fans know, that’s a whole different animal!

Osmond considers THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL headwriter and executive producer Brad Bell a “dear friend” and said that over the years, they’ve spoken about her making an appearance on the soap. “I started [watching soaps] years ago with THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, which was created by Brad’s dad, William Bell,” she told The New York Post.

Unfortunately, for 11 years, Osmond was performing with brother Donny Osmond in a Las Vegas Residency that kept her far too busy to do any outside projects. But after that came to an end, opportunity came knocking once again.

“I was down in L.A. helping my daughter with the children,” Osmond reveals, “and I got a call from them saying ‘Hey, we’re doing this big fashion show — both B&B and Y&R are coming together – and I went, ‘What the heck, let’s do this!’

“Brad wrote the part super-fast and it was a blast,” she continued. “He said, ‘Is there someone you want to be?’ and I said, ‘I don’t want to be me. Make it fun.’ And that’s when he came up with the Countess. She’s got serious attitude problems. She lives in Milan and she’s stuffy.”

Although Countess Von Frankfurt will be appearing in multiple episodes of B&B starting on Friday, Oct. 27, all the scenes were taped in one day that lasted from 5 a.m. until midnight. “That’s okay,” Osmond admitted. “I’m not scared of those things, you know what I mean? When I was a kid, I worked six days a week and, with school included, they were 16-18-hour days. It never stopped.

“I don’t know people who work harder than soap actors,” she declared. “It’s not for the squeamish, for sure, but it’s so fun.”
