See John McCook’s Emotional Return to the B&B Set
When John McCook went back to work at THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL following his Daytime Emmy Award win for Outstanding Lead Actor, there was a big celebration with the cast and crew that left the actor feeling very emotional.
“I have a lot of blessings in my life,” McCook said at the podium, his voice thick with emotion. “But very few that are as cool as this. My wife and my kids… my kids still think I’m funny. They still laugh at my jokes that I have. And you still laugh at them too… thank you.
“And then right up with the biggest blessings in my life is that I get to be an actor,” he continued. “Since I was… I got my Equity card when I was 18 years old and I’ve been working all the time. Thank God for that. I think there’s no place else in the world where I could’ve gotten an Emmy except here. And so I thank you all for that. Thank you.”
McCook concludes by gesturing to the assembled crowd and the person pans the camera left to show everyone on the set applauding the veteran actor and his long-overdue Emmy win.
McCook made his daytime debut playing Lance Prentiss on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS back in 1975 and remained with the soap until 1980. In 1987, he became one of the original cast members of B&B, debuting in the first episode as Eric Forrester. Over the years, McCook has earned four Daytime Emmy nominations for his powerful performances on the soap, but it wasn’t until 2022 that he took home the gold.
As he returned to the B&B set as an Emmy-winner, McCook joked of his trophy: “Hard to not just carry it around everywhere.” So please join us in congratulating him on his big win and we look forward to seeing even more award-worthy performances in the years to come!
