Who Was Tom on The Bold & The Beautiful?

Many fans recognized a familiar face when they saw Tom on The Bold & The Beautiful. The character first appeared in the April 26, 2024 episode of the soap and was played by Clint Howard. In addition to being the younger brother of Ron Howard, the actor has appeared in numerous TV series like Gentle Ben and Star Trek as well as films like Backdraft, Parenthood, Apollo 13, and EDtv. B&B wasn’t actually Howard’s daytime debut, as he appeared in some episodes of the NBC soap Santa Barbara back in 1987.

Deacon Sharpe was convinced that Sheila Carter was still alive and after persuading her son, Dr. Finn Finnegan that it was a possibility, the two men went out searching for her. Tracking one of her credit card purchases to a rough neighborhood, a homeless man named Tom offered to help. He recognized a photo of Sheila and said that she’d gone into a nearby building and that’s when he heard screaming. He warned them to stay away because it was dangerous and took off himself.

Deacon and Finn rescued Sheila from the building where Sugar had left her to die, and a few weeks later, Deacon and Sheila prepared to tie the knot. Deacon invited Tom to the wedding, and it turned out that he was a licensed officiant so he ended up performing the ceremony for the happy couple. Sheila was pleased to meet Tom after learning he had helped Deacon and Finn save her life. After Deacon and Sheila exchanged vows, Tom pronounced them man and wife.

Later, Deacon wanted to express his gratitude to Tom by offering him a job at Il Giardino, and after going over some possibilities, Tom decided to try delivering pizzas as he still had a valid driver’s license. And after his first delivery, it seemed to be working out. Although after he did a little online research regarding Sheila, he expressed his concerns to Deacon. She privately warned Tom to back off and he was appropriately cowed.

However, Tom was also surprised when he saw Poppy Nozawa at Il Giardino, and it was clear that she recognized him as well! He later slipped out of the restaurant to deliver a pizza to Bill’s house in an attempt to confront her, but when her daughter, Luna Nozawa, showed up, he beat a hasty retreat. It was also revealed that Tom Starr is also a musician who has played concerts and festivals, so Deacon asked his new employee to perform a show at Il Giardino.

When Poppy confronted Tom before the show to warn him to stay away, Tom made the shocking declaration that he was Luna’s real father! But later, someone put something in his energy drink that he sucked down and during his performance, Tom collapsed and later died at the hospital!
