Check Out Two Daytime Vets in DRIVEN’s “Racy” Second Season!
Streaming service Passionflix will debut the second season of its wildly popular series, DRIVEN, on Thursday, July 22, and two familiar faces from daytime television will have key roles! Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) and Michael Roark — who played Victoria’s bartender beau, Travis, on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS — will play father and son Andy Westin and Colton Donovan, respectively, in the four-episode season.
For those not familiar with Passionflix, the subscription-based streaming service adapts popular romance novels into original movies and series. DRIVEN is based on the cult-favorite book series of the same name by bestselling author K. Bromberg, and the new season follows the events of the second novel, Fueled.
The first season of DRIVEN debuted on the streamer back in 2018 to high ratings, with DAYS alum Casey Deidrick (ex-Chad) playing the lead role of Colton, a sexy racecar driver with a troubled past who falls for social worker Rylee. Deidrick parted ways with Passionflix when he was cast on The CW’s IN THE DARK, leading the streaming service to tap Y&R vet Roark to take over as Olivia Applegate’s love interest. Roark actually got twice as much work out of the gig, as both the second and third seasons (which follows the book Crashed) were filmed back-to-back in late 2020.
“That’s a wrap on ‘Fueled’ and ‘Crashed’ in the Driven series,” Roark wrote on Instagram when filming completed just before Christmas. “Thank you, Olivia Applegate, [director] Tosca Musk, and the cast and crew for a great job with an ambitious schedule during a challenging time. Thank you to the fans for the warm welcome and to Kristy Bromberg for bringing us this story. ‘Fueled’ releases in 2021, with ‘Crashed’ to follow.”
While Roark will be heavily featured in all four episodes as one of DRIVEN’s leads, Shaughnessy appears in the supporting role of Colton’s adoptive father as the driver realizes he needs to confront the demons of his traumatic childhood in order to explore a future with Rylee.
