Courtney Hope Previews Sally’s New Life on Y&R (EXCLUSIVE)

You can’t keep a good woman down! After leaving THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, Courtney Hope told Soaps In Depth she was absolutely thrilled to be asked to join the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS and continue telling Sally Spectra’s story. “I was told right before I went back that they were gonna put me on recurring on BOLD just for the storyline direction,” she explained. “So I went back and show my last couple episodes, and then my last episode aired and exactly a week after that my agent said that Y&R had reached out to them and they were interested in writing Sally in. Which is cool. And super-flattering. To find out that I can have a whole new chapter of Sally and see where she’s going from here is super exciting.”

Given that Sally had schemed herself into a corner by faking a fatal illness and kidnapping Flo in an effort to hold on to Wyatt, she definitely needed a fresh start in a new city! “There was so much that happened in L.A. for Sally that it’s probably best that she kind of gets out for a little bit!” Hope laughed.

Because Y&R tapes in Studio City, the same complex where B&B is located, the actress was already familiar with the studios and the people who work there. Still, there’s always plenty to learn and adjust to at any new job. “I feel like Y&R moves a little bit faster than B&B,” Hope admitted. “But as far as everything else, it’s really similar, which is nice. I’d say the one biggest difference is that we’re on two soundstages versus one. I remember my first day for my fitting, I was like, ‘Do you mind if I walk around for a second? There are so many sets! I kind of equate it to being at the same school, just either on a different side of campus or in a different grade.”

As Hope learns the ins and outs of working at Y&R, Sally is learning the ins and outs of Genoa City society as she tries to put her life back together again. “She’s trying to establish herself back in business,” the actress previewed. “Standing firm in her ability to create. I think that’s something that’s very important. It’s interesting to see Sally move forward in business and kind of have that spunky mentality that she had in the beginning when she first came to L.A. Really wanting to make her dreams come true. So that’s been really, really fun to see come back around.”

After all the setbacks and disasters that Sally endured during her time in Los Angeles, Hope is really looking forward to her character finally coming out on top for a change. “I would love to see her have some wins,” she declared. “In career, in relationships, pretty much everywhere. I feel like it’s been a really long time since Sally has had that.

“Obviously, she’s going to have a little bit of trouble here and there because somebody’s going to start a little trouble or she can be very ambitious so she’s never safe in this happy relationship or a happy job,” Hope chuckled. “But just for my own sake, it’s like, poor thing has been through a lot. I would like her to have some wins!”
