What Happened to Damon on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
Damon on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS might look familiar to some soap fans because his portrayer, Keith Hamilton Cobb, played the popular role of Noah on ABC sudser ALL MY CHILDREN in the mid-’90s. But if you don’t remember the Y&R character he played from May 2003 until May 2005, we’ll fill you in!
Damon Porter was a chemist who was recruited by Drucilla Winters to come and work for her at Jabot to replace Ashley, who was going on maternity leave. Although Neil Winters had wanted Damon to work for Newman, the gentle scientist didn’t want to get involved in the Abbott/Newman feud. Especially not after Brad Carlton asked him to seduce Phyllis Summers away from her then-husband, Jack Abbott!
Dru was attracted to Damon, but he didn’t return her feelings. But after an emotional Victoria Newman poured her heart out to him, they found themselves growing closer, much to the disapproval of her family. He also reconnected with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Lerner and went to Japan with her to find a rare orchid that could help Jabot. After Phyllis split up with Jack, she and Damon started a relationship, so a jealous Vanessa gave the orchid project to Newman.
When Phyllis’ son, Daniel Romalotti, arrived in Genoa City, he did not approve of his mother’s new boyfriend and their arguments helped inspire Damon to open up to her about his past. He revealed that years ago, Dominic Hughes had tried to kill him, but the bullet took the life of Damon’s young son, Elias. Since then, he had been meditating to try and find inner peace. Eventually, Damon won Daniel over after he saved him and Kevin from a blackmailing thug.
Although Phyllis had tried to warn him to stay away, Dominic visited Genoa City when he was released from prison. A trusting Damon believed his claims that he was a changed man, but Phyllis found out that Dominic was setting Damon up. When she confronted the villain, Dominic tried to rape her, but Damon came to the rescue. Dominic shot him, and Damon injured him with a sword. Damon had a near-death experience where his spirit reunited with his son, but he recovered. Dominic tried to get the pair imprisoned for attempted murder, but ultimately Michael was able to get the charges dropped. When Damon’s ex-wife, Adrienne, showed up, they reconciled and returned to his ranch in Atlanta.
