From Harmony to Genoa City! PASSIONS alumna Dana Sparks (Grace/Faith) joins the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS on a recurring basis in a brand new role! The actress will make her Y&R debut on Thursday, Jan. 7, as Dr. Lena Cavett. What kind of physician is Dr. Cavett? Well, she is a specialist with expertise in treating stroke patients, and she is hired by Adam to treat a paralyzed Chelsea.
“So happy to be recurring on this iconic show!” Sparks wrote on Instagram. “This Thursday, my role on Y&R begins. I play a doctor and I can say with confidence — Wear your mask! I am so thankful to the producers and CBS. As they say, tune in!”
In Y&R’s storyline, Chelsea suffered a stroke after her brain aneurysm burst just hours before her scheduled surgery to treat the issue. The stroke affected her right side, leaving her immobilized and unable to speak. Look for Dr. Cavett to be part of the team brought in by Adam to be part of his love’s rehabilitation team.
As for Sparks, she is known amongst soap fans for her 1999-2007 run on PASSIONS. On the campy daytime drama, the actress played twin sisters Grace, the amnesiac wife of Sam, and Faith, who perished along with daughter Charity in a fire set by town witch Tabitha. Included among Sparks’ primetime credits is a two-year run from 1986-88 on nighttime soap FALCON CREST as a grown-up Vickie, and a Season 3 arc on MELROSE PLACE as Carol Graham (the wife of Matt’s lover Dr. Paul Graham). She also recurred on JAG from 1997-2003 as Lieutenant Commander Carolyn Imes. Sparks most recently appeared in the Lifetime thriller Fatal Fiancé. That movie, which stars Brittany Underwood (Langston, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) as a bride who is kidnapped by her fiancé’s delusional ex, Camila Banus (Gabi, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), premiered on Jan. 3.
Stay tuned to Y&R to see if Lena will be able to help Chelsea recover… and what other Genoa City drama she might find herself mixed up in while she’s there!
