Chase is looking like his old self again! Donny Boaz has been back at THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for a little while now, and will be back on screen in the episode airing on Friday, Dec. 18! “Just a little screenshot from Y&R,” the actor shared on Instagram with a snap of him grinning while taping an episode. “This is how happy I feel to be back at work. For all the fans, I will be back in Chance Chancellor’s shoes and on your TV on 12/18/2020.

“Spoiler alert,” he added. “I think Melissa Ordway (Abby) and I had one of the best, most magical scenes we’ve ever shot today. She is so good and so talented. I feel lucky to get front row seats to watch her work.”

Back in mid-November, Boaz shared the unfortunate news that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19 and had to leave Y&R temporarily to quarantine while he recovered. Because CBS was leading up to Chance and Abby’s wedding in the 12,000th episode of the long-running soap, they had to quickly recast the role and asked Ordway’s real-life husband, Justin Gaston, to step in for a few weeks.

While Boaz was disappointed he didn’t get to be there for Chance’s big soap wedding, he was grateful for Gaston keeping the character alive and the storyline going uninterrupted. “I want to send a special thank you to these two love birds,” he declared. “Melissa, you’re amazing, every day. It’s my absolute pleasure to work with you. She called me almost every day while I was out to check on me and I want her to know that meant a lot.

“Justin, I want to thank you for stepping into  Chance Chancellor’s shoes at the last minute and for being a badass!” Boaz continued. “The fans have no idea that you had a three- to-four-day heads-up and had to crank out 110-plus pages a week to catch up for the time I was out. Sad I could be there for such a momentous occasion for Chance and Abby’s wedding, but simultaneously in awe of what an amazing and unique experience it was to get to marry your own spouse on daytime TV. That’s pretty cool. I’m pretty thankful for you two.”

Ordway spoke for herself as well as the Y&R fans when she commented: “Welcome back!” We’re all glad that Boaz recovered quickly from the coronavirus and was able to return to work so we can continue to watch Chance and Abby’s relationship develop on screen! Stay tuned to see what happens next!
