Elizabeth Hendrickson Explains Why She Changed Her Birth Plan at 36 Weeks

Tags:

With her baby due very soon, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe) made a major decision that finally has her looking forward to the birth of her daughter. “At 36 weeks I just made a very bold move,” she confessed on Instagram. “I started getting the feeling my OBGYN wasn’t for me and my baby. The last few appointments I started feeling very uneasy that my birth plan wasn’t going to be honored. I’ll be honest. I was very late as to what this plan was, I guess I just didn’t have a vision of what my birth looked like early on. I just knew I wanted to deliver a healthy baby.

“As I continued to read and talk with other women I realized that being delivered by a midwife was much more in line with what feels best for me and my baby,” Hendrickson continued. “Once I learned that UCLA hospital has midwives with OB’s on the same floor in case of complications, I made an appointment to meet with them. For the first time, I’m excited to give birth. I now feel like I have true support waiting for me when it’s go time.”

However, the actress reminds that she’s aware that her decision is not for everyone, as every woman is different. “Let me be clear, I’m not against all doctors and what they do,” Hendrickson insisted. “Something about it all just wasn’t sitting right with me. I had to listen to that second thought and uneasiness I was feeling. This is going to be the biggest experience of my life so far. I have to trust myself 100% that I can do this. I am proud that I made this very bold move so late in my pregnancy for myself and for my daughter. One of many I will be making from here on out. I guess this is what motherhood feels like and I’m loving it more and more every day.”

Although the soap wrote Hendrickson’s pregnancy into Chloe’s storyline, the character won’t be giving birth until after the actress returns from her own maternity leave. But we look forward to joining Hendrickson in welcoming her beautiful baby girl into the world very soon and can’t wait to see all the pictures!
