A week after first revealing that he was sick, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Greg Rikaart (Kevin) has finally been able to be tested and was suffering from Coronavirus. “I just tested positive for Coronavirus,” the actor announced. “I am a pretty healthy 34-year-old who doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink much, eats well, and exercises regularly and this has been the hardest experience of my life.”
Rikaart first shared his symptoms and frustration at not being able to be tested for the virus back on March 18, but the experience began well before that. “Two-plus weeks ago, everyone in my house had a bit of a cough and my son came home from school with a high fever,” he reported. “Everyone recovered, but I deteriorated. I isolated from my family and have been in solo quarantine since Saturday the 14th. I had a fever for 11 days, difficulty breathing, and was diagnosed with pneumonia.”
Thankfully, a week later not only had medical tests confirmed he had COVID-19, but his condition had improved measurably. “I’m confident that I have finally turned the proverbial corner and am fever free today for the first time since this all started,” Rikaart said. “I was told to stay isolated for another 72 hours before I acclimate back into my family. So, nice try, Coronavirus, but I have another four to five decades worth of experiences to share with these guys. Furthermore, I want to thank you all for the well-wishes and I hope you heed the warnings. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay inside.”
We’re so glad that Rikaart is through the worst of it and hope that his husband, Robert Sudduth, and their son, Montgomery, remain healthy through this worldwide health crisis. For more on your favorite Y&R stars, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
