Y&R Alum Jason Canela Cast as Gloria Estefan’s Husband!

Congratulations to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum Jason Canela (ex-Arturo) on his exciting new role! The actor has been cast as Gloria Estefan’s husband, Emilio Estefan, in the new production of the musical On Your Feet! playing at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, FL!

On your Feet! is the inspiring true story about heart, heritage, and two people who believed in their talent – and each other – to become an international sensation: Gloria and Emilio Estefan,” Canela shared on Instagram to announce the news. “Now their story will return to their hometown of Miami, in an original production that will celebrate its South Florida regional premiere at Actor’s Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre.

“It’s truly an honor to have been selected to bring life to the role of Emilio,” he continued. “I’m so excited to be working alongside some of the most talented individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing a stage with. Each and every one of you in this cast have already inspired me in ways you can’t imagine and the fact that we get to do this in my hometown brings a feeling to me that I can’t even put into words. Prepárense mi gente! (translation: Get ready, my people!)”

He also was inspired when Gloria Estefan herself joined the cast and crew to wish them well. “You’re a rock star,” Canela declared, “and your words last night were the perfect way to kickstart our journey!”
