Jordi Vilasuso Is Leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS!

Tags:

After four years in Genoa City, Daytime Emmy winner Jordi Vilasuso is exiting his role of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Rey. The actor announced the news on Instagram after teasing on the page for his podcast, Making It Work — which the Y&R star hosts with his wife, Kaitlin — that there was some big news they’d be sharing on the new episode.

“Playing Rey Rosales and being part of the Rosales family was a beautiful chapter in my career,” wrote Vilasuso. “I was proud to represent my culture on daytime’s No. 1 drama and work with an incredible cast and crew that I will miss dearly.”

Vilasuso made his debut in the role back in August 2018, but he was already a familiar face to soap viewers. He previously originated the role of GUIDING LIGHT’s Tony Santos from 2000-’03, earning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor during his run. In November 2010, he joined the cast of ALL MY CHILDREN as Dr. Griffin Castillo, a doctor of Mexican descent, and continued with the soap when it moved to Prospect Park’s online reboot in 2013. He later played DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Dario Hernandez from 2016-’17 before joining Y&R the following year.

Rey and Sharon’s days are likely numbered as Vilasuso wraps up his run on Y&R.

As his time in Genoa City comes to an end, Vilasuso is parting ways with the soap with gratitude. “Thank you, Y&R for always welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to tell stories that impacted millions. As this door closes, others will and have opened. If you’re interested in hearing a little more about my story, check out our podcast, Making It Work, where Kaitlin and I share some more details of my exit and dig into embracing change!”

There’s no word on when Vilasuso will make his final appearance as Rey, so check back with SoapsInDepth.com as this story develops for further details.
