Fans can catch THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Kate Linder (Esther) on the big screen in the new movie, A Little White Lie, premiering in theaters, digital, and on demand on Friday, March 3! “I believe that Y&R fans would love this film,” the actress told Soaps In Depth. “My character is a total 180 from Esther. It was so much fun to shoot and I believe that comes through in the film.”
Written and directed by Michael Maren, A Little White Lie stars Michael Shannon as Shriver, a down-on-his-luck handyman who has never read a book in his life. And when he is mistaken for a famous writer who has been living in seclusion for decades, he accepts an invitation to attend a college literary festival only to find himself surrounded by fans and falling for an English professor played by Kate Hudson. Naturally, shenanigans ensue as he tries to maintain his charade without losing his chance at love! The comedy’s cast also includes Don Johnson, ZachBraff, Aja Naomi King, Wendie Malick, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
“My character is the college president,” Linder previewed. “She is very strong and grounded. She looks out for the college and wants everything to be done right.” So she’ll definitely have something to say about the handyman posing as a famous author!
“I worked with Kate Hudson, Michael Shannon, and Don Johnson,” the Y&R star revealed. “Most of my scenes were with Kate. They were all great and professional to work with and they all wanted to make sure that the film was the best it could be.”
Filming of A Little White Lie was interrupted due to the lockdown in 2020 but the cast and crew were eventually able to reconvene and wrap shooting so the film could finally be released. “I had one last day to shoot when we were shut down because of the pandemic,” Linder confided. “I am absolutely thrilled that we were able to come back several years later and finish this amazing film.”
