Melissa Claire Egan Leaves Y&R To Have Her Baby!

Tags:

The time has come! Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) is exiting THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for her maternity leave so that she can give birth to her first child with husband Matt Katrosar! “Last work selfie for a while!” the actress tweeted of the full-length photo she snapped in the hallway mirror at the soap’s studio.

Just one week earlier, on Aug. 5, the expectant mom shared a video on social media she took of herself walking through the CBS studio where Y&R tapes. “Super pregnant,” she declared, panning the camera down to her baby bump. “And still working, honey!” She then said, “Don’t you know it!” as she panned the camera around to show the complex around her and then let out a deep breath.

On Y&R, Chelsea has already left Genoa City to take care of her mother, Anita, who broke her hip in a fall. She convinced Adam to let her take Connor with her for the visit, but while their son has come home, Chelsea remains with her mom.  However, since Egan has obviously been filming scenes into August, viewers should expect to see Chelsea on screen in some form (likely phone or Zoom calls) well into September, given the soap’s shooting schedule. (Even longer, if they’ve pre-taped scenes!) So depending on when Egan returns from her maternity leave, it may not feel like Chelsea has been off-screen for very long at all!

Egan has already revealed she has a name picked out for her baby boy, and has been feted with two separate baby showers, one from family and one from her co-stars! She should be welcoming her precious bundle of joy very soon, so keep checking back at SoapsInDepth.com for news of the birth and the first baby pictures! And keep watching Y&R so you’re ready for Chelsea’s inevitable return!
