Melissa Claire Egan’s THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Return Date Revealed!

Tags:

It’s been a few weeks since Melissa Claire Egan’s maternity leave ended, and she returned to the set of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS to resume taping scenes as Chelsea. The actress — who celebrated her 10th anniversary with Y&R this month — has kept her fans updated along the way, sharing stories on Instagram about her fabulous new hair ’do and her first day back on the set. Now, the star’s fans finally have a date to look forward to for her return: The soap confirms that Egan and Chelsea will be back on the screen on Tuesday, Dec. 14!

“Chelsea’s missed you all!” Egan shared on Instagram back on Oct. 18 when she returned to work. “Excited to be back in Genoa City soon.” The actress added that upon her return, she’ll be looking much more fashionable than she was during the days when her alter ego was constantly dressed in drab brown mental hospital scrubs, even though that wardrobe was “good for baby-bump hiding.”

Egan — who welcomed her first son, Caden Robert, with husband Matt Katrosar on Aug. 21 — practically worked up until her due date, wrapping up her final scenes on Aug. 11. The storyline to accommodate Egan’s maternity leave actually began in July, however, when Chelsea was released from the mental hospital on an outpatient basis to take care of her mother, Anita, as she recovered from a broken hip. Chelsea continued to check in with her loved ones via video calls while she was helping her mother convalesce, but what juicy drama will she get caught up in upon her return to town?

Based on a recent post Egan made on Instagram, it looks like the vixen will be following through with her original plan with bestie Chloe and going to work with her new business partner, Sally, at Newman Media’s fashion platform. “This is gonna be funnnn!” the actress captioned a playful pic that had the three characters posing like the iconic Charlie’s Angels.

The actress certainly seems to be excited to be back at work, even if it means leaving her precious newborn for those hours when she is on set. “I love my job and I love this medium so much,” she gushed in a post celebrating her 10th anniversary with Y&R. “Everyone works so hard, and these people are my family. I’m just so very grateful, today and every day.”
