Michael Mealor Reveals the Y&R Co-Star Who Made Him Nervous!

Tags:

The old show-biz adage warns never to work with kids or animals, but for THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Michael Mealor (Kyle), that thankfully turned out not to be a problem! Although he admitted that he was actually kind of nervous working with a new co-star — Kellen Enriquez who joined the soap in 2021 to play his son, Harrison!

“I hadn’t been around children that much,” Mealor confided to Soap Opera Digest, “so I just wasn’t that great at interacting with Kellen. I have a nephew and niece who are around his age but they live out of state and I haven’t been able to spend a lot of time with them because of COVID, so I just didn’t have that parental thing down pat yet.

“Hunter [King, ex-Summer] was much more comfortable with him because she loves children,” he added, “and they would have a great time together on set while I just kind of hung back.”

Thankfully, when Kyle first met Harrison, it was understandable for him to be a little nervous around the son he didn’t know he had, so it kind of worked in their favor! Of course, now the father and son are much closer, and so are the actors.

“We’re definitely more familiar with each other,” Mealor reported. “He’s a goofy guy and a ball of energy, so he keeps you on your toes. During the holidays, there were toys around, so he was always carrying one with him and I think the world to him is a toy. The more scenes we’re in, the more we get used to each other and now we’re in a really good place. He’s a great 6-year-old.”

So keep watching Y&R to see even more bonding between the TV father and son!
