Michelle Stafford Reports Her Sister Is Cancer Free!
Wonderful news from THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) — her sister, Janine, is now cancer free! “It was 10 years ago that she received the call at work that she had aggressive HER2 stage three breast cancer,” the actress revealed. “Today, she is cancer free.
“After treatment, she completely changed her life and changed the way she had been navigating it to that point,” Stafford continued. “Hers is a tremendous success story. I mean, absolutely tremendous.”
Janine went through 14 months of treatments with six months of intense chemo. “A friend suggested documenting the journey through photos and while I first rejected this notion, I eventually embraced it and found something in myself that only my loved ones could see,” she explained. Stafford shared her sister’s photos on her own Instagram so that everyone could experience her powerful and inspiring journey.
“I know it doesn’t go this way for everyone,” Stafford allowed. “Trust me, I know this all too well. I don’t want to say that some lost their battle because they didn’t lose. Every single person fighting this disease is a warrior. I believe warriors never really lose. They just change up the game.
“My sister, of course, is the ultimate warrior,” she concluded. “I am tremendously proud. She is an inspiration. I hope this post inspires some of you who may need it tonight.”
