Mishael Morgan Opens up About Returning to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS
When Mishael Morgan made the decision to take a step back from THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, she promised fans that she would still be willing to return to the soap for the occasional visit, and the first one has finally come to pass as Amanda is now back in Genoa City to help represent Chancellor-Winters in court… and attend the big bicentennial gala!
“It was pretty much an immediate yes for me,” Morgan confided to Soap Opera Digest of getting the call to come back for Y&R’s 50th anniversary, “but I had my agent make sure I didn’t have anything else in the pipeline. I was adamant about going back and being there for this moment, so I made it pretty clear that unless Steven Spielberg called, I’m going to Genoa City!”
The actress was also happy to step back into Amanda’s shoes so that the soap could finally deal with some of the repercussions of her dumping Devon after catching him having sex with Abby. “I was really excited to come back and play that out because Amanda left very abruptly,” Morgan explained. “She showed up, was in shock by what she was seeing, and then she just disappeared for a few months. Amanda didn’t heal overnight, so she’s not exactly in a happy place when she comes back.”
Since leaving Y&R, Morgan has been keeping pretty busy, appearing in three episodes of the primetime drama CHICAGO MED as well as shooting an action movie titled Sworn Justice with fellow Y&R alum Vivica A. Fox (ex-Stephanie). In fact, she was actually meant to appear in additional episodes of CHICAGO MED but was unable to because she booked the film. However, the Daytime Emmy Winner will always keep Y&R on her radar for more visits in the future.
“I’ll always be happy to come back, so I hope that it’ll work out,” Morgan insisted. “If I had actually stayed on CHICAGO MED, I wouldn’t have been able to do Y&R this time. So that worked out perfectly and hopefully, it will again in the future.”
