Sharon Case Celebrates Her 27th Anniversary at Y&R

Please join us in congratulating Sharon Case, who is celebrating the 27th anniversary of her debut as Sharon Newman on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS (although technically she was Sharon Collins at the time)! “Thank you, all of you, for riding with me!” the actress told her fans when her epic ride was celebrated on Twitter. “With your love and support, it is so beautiful, fun, inspiring, and appreciated. For my 27th anniversary, I just want you all to know how much I dearly love and enjoy you, too!”

Newer fans might not even be aware that there were actually two other actresses who played Sharon on Y&R. The character first appeared in June 1994 and was played originally by Monica Potter until she was quickly recast with Heidi Mark a month later. But after one more month, the soap tapped Case for the role in September, and the rest is history!

A former model, Case made her daytime debut in 1989 as Dawn Winthrop on ABC sudser GENERAL HOSPITAL, playing the long-lost daughter of Monica Quartermaine. After a year, the actress left the soap and made numerous primetime appearances on shows like DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D., BEVERLY HILLS, 90210, and CHEERS. In 1993, Case returned to daytime to play Debbie Simon on AS THE WORLD TURNS for a year, after which time she joined the cast of Y&R to take over the role of Sharon and made it her own, earning five Daytime Emmy Award nominations for her work and taking home the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1999.

Fans and friends showered Case with congratulations and love on social media, including Y&R co-stars Jordi Vilasuso (Rey), Christian LeBlanc (Michael), and Bryton James (Devon), who she was delighted to see used exactly 27 party popper emojis in his post!

We can’t believe it’s already been nearly three decades of fantastic performances from Case, but we’re already looking forward to many more years to come! Congratulations!
