Y&R’s Tyler Johnson Explains Why He Avoids Social Media (EXCLUSIVE)

While Theo is a successful influencer in Genoa City on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, his portrayer, Tyler Johnson, confesses that using social media to promote himself or products is simply not in his wheelhouse. “It’s kind of a stretch for me to play, because I’m sort of social media averse,” the hunk admitted to Soaps In Depth. “It’s not that I don’t like the landscape — I enjoy engaging with it, but as an artist, I’m sensitive. You see all the good things that come across, but then what’s the one thing that you focus on? The negative!”

Even though Johnson says he is wary about the sometimes brutal world of Twitter, he recognizes its popularity and finds it fun to brush up against it with Theo. “I understand the power of social media, and I understand the power of these platforms and those who can utilize them in a really big way,” he admitted with a smile. “I have a lot of respect for that. And with this role, I get to understand that culture without actually being part of that culture!”
