Y&R Alum Shemar Moore is Going to Be a Dad!
Next month, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum Shemar Moore (ex-Malcolm) will finally get to tackle a role he’s long waited for: fatherhood! While taping an upcoming appearance on THE JENNIFER HUDSON SHOW (which will air on Jan. 26), the actor revealed that he is expecting his first baby — and his child’s due date is a very sentimental one for the actor since it falls on the anniversary of the day he lost his beloved mother, Marilyn, in 2020.
“I’m Shemar Moore, 52 ½ years old. My mother is in heaven right now. It’ll be the three-year anniversary on February 8,” he told Hudson in a video clip as he sat on a couch on the set of her talk show. “And on February 8, I’m going to make one of her dreams come true. Because in real life, on February 8, Shemar Moore is about to be a daddy!”
As Hudson and the audience broke out in applause and cheers, the former Y&R star added, “I’m so excited. I’m sorry she can’t be here. I was worried for a while that maybe that ship had sailed. And God had my back and things lined up and it’s going to be the best part of… My life is pretty grand, but I know whenever God does call my name, once I get this experience, I’ll be able to go to heaven whole.”
Although the actor didn’t name the mother of his child in the clip shared by Hudson, Moore shared a gender reveal video on Instagram later that day featuring his girlfriend, model Jesiree Dizon. “Mama’s smiling from Heaven 🕊️,” he captioned the post. “Miracles happen… Here comes the best part of my life ❤️🔥.”
With their friends and family mingling in the background, Moore says in the video, “This is a special day. Today, Shemar Franklin Moore is about to find out if he’s going to be a daddy to a little girl or a little boy. Mama, I did it!”
Dizon — who already has a 16-year-old son, Kaiden, and a 5-year-old daughter, Charli — confessed that while she ultimately wants the baby to be healthy, she was secretly hoping for a baby girl. “I kind of want a girl because then we can have one more,” she admitted.
When it came time for the big gender reveal, Moore hugged his girlfriend as a helicopter flew overhead and released a stream of pink powder into the air. Moore, who currently stars on the CBS procedural drama S.W.A.T., and Dizon plan to name their daughter Frankie.
