GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Vernee Watson Cast in New Primetime Sitcom
Emmy-winning GENERAL HOSPITAL actress Vernee Watson (Stella) has just landed an exciting new primetime gig! She will be playing Gloria in the new CBS series BOB ❤︎ ABISHOLA. From award-winning sitcom creator Chuck Lorre (GRACE UNDER FIRE, CYBILL, TWO AND A HALF MEN, THE BIG BANG THEORY, MOM), the show is a love story about a middle-aged compression sock businessman who falls for his cardiac nurse while recovering from a heart attack.
MIKE & MOLLY’s Billy Gardell stars as Bob, and Folake Olowofoyeku plays Abishola, the Nigerian immigrant he’s determined to win over. The comedic examination of immigrant life in America also features Christine Ebersole as Dottie. BOB ❤︎ ABISHOLA will premiere this fall and air Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
Sitcoms are familiar ground for Watson, who is best known for her roles on WELCOME BACK, KOTTER and THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR. After joining the cast of GH in 2017 as Curtis Ashford’s Aunt Stella, the actress won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series. And at the following Daytime Emmys, Watson took home Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work on the soap!
At this time there’s no word on how this new primetime series might affect Watson’s daytime gig, but it’s likely she’ll be able to juggle both parts. As more details come in regarding her role on BOB ❤︎ ABISHOLA, we’ll be sure to let you know! And for more on your favorite GH stars, keep reading the ABC edition of Soaps In Depth magazine.
