ALL MY CHILDREN Star Cameron Mathison Running a Triathlon For a Very Important Cause

Cameron Mathison (Ryan, ALL MY CHILDREN) is participating in a triathlon to raise money for the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, and he has a very special reason why that particular cause is near and dear to his heart.

“On the left, me at around five years old, wearing the leg brace I wore for four years day and night because of a degenerative bone disease,” he wrote, sharing a side-by-side photo of himself as a child and an adult. “On the right, me showing off my hops around 25 years old.”

The actor suffered from Legg-Perthes disease as a boy, and credits the doctors and nurses who helped him recover with making him the man he is today.

“Point is,” he added, “if it wasn’t for the incredible care of a children’s hospital, I may not even be walking today never mind dunking a basketball.”

Now, not only can Mathison walk and dunk basketballs, but he’s running the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on Saturday, Sept. 17.
