GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Lexi Ainsworth Relives Kristina’s Most Memorable Moments (EXCLUSIVE)

“Who knows which time this is?” Ainsworth chuckled. “I feel like every time Kristina sees her dad, I’m just crying in his arms. I don’t want to say those scenes are easy, but it is easy with Maurice Benard. I can just look into his eyes and cry.”

Before Kristina’s make-out session with Aaron, “I’d never done a scene like this, where I had to take off  my bra, so I’m on top of him in bed, and I have this wide-eyed moment of, ‘I don’t have anything on underneath my bra!’ I was about to flash everyone. Wardrobe got pasties for me, but that was a learning moment!”

“Another explosion,” Ainsworth sighed. “The voices and sense of urgency around me really helped me stay in the moment here. But I feel bad when someone has to carry me — of course, I shouldn’t, because Steve Burton (Jason) can lift five times my weight!”

“I don’t remember this exact scene, but Kristina was trying to get Johnny to pretend to be her boyfriend to make Sonny furious,” Ainsworth explained, “I’ve grown up working with adults since I was 11, so the age thing didn’t weird me out. It was never uncomfortable.”

The expression on the face of Kelly Monaco (Sam) here “is so priceless,” Ainsworth laughed. “It really says it all: ‘What the hell are you doing to me?’ This is before I got her into the cult.”

“Ashley [Jones, ex-Parker] was great to work with,” Ainsworth raved. “For these lovemaking scenes, they always tell you ahead of time — which I appreciate, but then I’m like, ‘What are you saying? Do I need to be cleansing and working out?’”

“Brytni Sarpy (ex-Val) was great to work with,” said Ainsworth, who’s happy that after her pal won the role of Elena on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS, the cop was recast. “I’m interested to see what they’re going to do with that relationship, because Kristina doesn’t have any friends. What’s up with that?” 

When Ainsworth made her Nurses Ball debut in 2017, “I felt kind of rusty,” she admitted. “I haven’t done musical theater since I was 11, or taken singing lessons for at least seven years. But it was cool to dive back into something I love.” 

“Aaron Sanders was awesome,” Ainsworth said of Bryan Craig’s predecessor as Morgan. “I loved Bryan, too, but they were so different because of their ages. I think I was taller than both [Sanders and Haley Pullos, Molly, then]. Now they’ve both passed me. This was pre-puberty!”

“Kristina had such a crush on Ethan!” Ainsworth explained. “This is classic young Kristina. I’m sure Ethan was telling her, ‘Not interested,’ and she was like, ‘I’ll take that as a maybe.’ She doesn’t like ‘no.’”

“Sometimes I have those blackout moments where I’m just in the zone,” shared Ainsworth, who won her first Emmy with this scene. “This is when Kristina told Alexis she was abused by Kiefer. I don’t even remember shooting it. Everything clicked.”

“Anytime I have to be unconscious — which actually happens quite a bit! — I always think I have to not breathe,” the actress said. “For me, those scenes are more technical, and about trying to be as lifeless as possible. You want viewers thinking maybe you’re dead.”
