GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Maurice Benard Celebrates His Anniversary With Wife Paula
Sonny’s love life has always been kind of a mess on GENERAL HOSPITAL but portrayer Maurice Benard found true love with his wife, Paula, and as the couple celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary, the actor couldn’t resist sharing a throwback pic of the couple with his romantic message.
“There are no words to describe my relationship with Paula,” Benard declared, “except to say I always tell Paula when the day comes I want to pass away first because I never want to live without her.”
Benard began his acting career with the role of Nico on ALL MY CHILDREN in 1987. He joined the cast of GH in 1993 as dimpled mobster Sonny Corinthos and the rest is history! (And Daytime Emmy Awards — he has taken home the Lead Actor trophy three times over the years!)
On Aug. 11, 1990, Benard married Paula Smith and the couple has raised four children together, Cailey, Cassidy, Joshua, and Heather. He and his wife are also now grandparents thanks to Cailey’s daughter, Tiana, and Heather’s little girl, Eloise!
