The Scarola Twins Honor World Prematurity Day — See How They’ve Grown!

Yesterday, Nov. 17, marked World Prematurity Day. The special day to raise awareness of preterm birth holds a special meaning for GENERAL HOSPITAL twins Ava and Grace Scarola, who share the role of Avery. The girls are happy, thriving 6-year-old first graders today, but they were considered preemies when they were born on April 26, 2014.

“It’s World Prematurity Day,” their mom, Erin, wrote, sharing a photo of teeny Ava and Grace in a hospital bassinette. “Taking it back to 2014 today. Thankful to Cedars Sinai [Hospital] for keeping us safe until delivery at 36 weeks and during our short time in NICU.”

Like most premature babies, Ava and Grace’s first few days were spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where they received special treatment and observation from specially trained health care staff. “We may have started out tiny, but our parents say we have made up for that ten-fold with our personalities and strong-will mindsets. Sending all our love to the preemie families out there.”

The twins have been playing Avery Corinthos on GH since December 2014. So fans have been able to see the adorable girls who take turns playing Sonny and Ava’s daughter grow up right before their eyes! See just how much Ava and Grace have grown over the years by scrolling through the gallery below!
