Sean Kanan Shares a Beautiful Anniversary Message to His Wife, Michele!
The characters of GENERAL HOSPITAL’s AJ and THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Deacon never had much luck with long-term relationships. But their portrayer, Sean Kanan, can’t say the same! On July 8, 2012, the actor married his beautiful wife, Michele — and he took to Instagram on the occasion of their 9th wedding anniversary to pay a beautiful tribute to his bride! And as it turns out, the couple’s wedding day had quite a soap-worthy twist!
“Nine years ago today, I found myself standing in a criminal courtroom in downtown Los Angeles,” Kanan wrote. “Under normal circumstances, that would be a cause of fear and anxiety for anyone. I was not afraid nor anxious. On the contrary, I was excited. My fiancé, Michele, stood beside me. The judge spoke to us and said, ‘Normally when I pronounce the sentence of life upon those before me, they are not too happy. But I believe you two are.’”
Why the heck were the Kanans in a criminal courtroom of all places on their wedding day? “You see, Michele and I were going to Italy for our wedding but discovered that due to rules that govern the Italian legal system, we wouldn’t be able to legally get married in Italy,” the GH, B&B, and Y&R alum explained. “So, one of our friends, who is a Los Angeles district attorney, was able to get us in front of a judge who married us. Today is our 9th anniversary.”
Thankfully, the newlyweds were able to then jet off to Italy for their dream wedding, having already been legally wed in California. And every day since then has been a dream come true for Kanan! “My life changed for the better that day,” he declared. “The man I am today is a direct result of the love, patience, honesty, and understanding my beautiful wife shows me every day.”
Kanan considers himself so blessed to be the recipient of Michele’s love, that he wished that each of his followers is able to experience the same kind of epic romance. “I hope with all of my heart that each of you finds a relationship that allows you to love not only another but also yourself. To grow together, laugh, cry, and have the freedom to live your most authentic and honest life.
“Happy anniversary, my love,” he concluded. “Can’t wait to see what’s next.”
