A Celebration of Soap Opera Digest

Daytime fans were dealt another heavy blow when Soap Opera Digest ceased publication of its regular weekly magazine after 48 years covering the industry inside and out. The Locher Room will be holding a very special salute to Soap Opera Digest on Friday, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m. ET.

Joining host Alan Locher will be three of the women who helped run the magazine over the decades. Meredith Berlin was a features writer before being named editor-in-chief in 1981, the youngest EIC at a magazine in the country at that time! Lynn Leahey worked at SOD for 27 years, 11 of those as editorial director. And Stephanie Sloane’s three decades with the mag began in 1990 when she was hired as Meredith and Lynn’s assistant and she was VP, editorial director in October 2023 when the regular weekly magazine folded.

These three women will have plenty of great stories to tell from their decades covering daytime, so don’t miss it!
