ALL MY CHILDREN’s Cady McClain Shares Details of Her Exciting New Project!

Daytime veteran Cady McClain is well known for her roles as Dixie on ALL MY CHILDREN, Rosanna on AS THE WORLD TURNS, and Kelly on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. But she has also directed a couple of short films, and in doing so, discovered just how difficult it can be for women to break into directing.

To help bring awareness to the issue, as well as hopefully find a solution, McClain is working on a documentary titled Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct, and launched an Indiegogo campaign to help bring it to fruition.

“The bias is systemic,” she wrote, “So there’s no point in blaming or calling out the offenders. Nothing but a revolution is going to change the way things are.”

McClain has conducted many interviews with female directors, including fellow daytime alum Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin, GENERAL HOSPITAL). “I’m so honored to be a part of this project,” McCullough shared on Twitter. “And so happy to call Cady my friend. This gorgeous human cares about other people’s work as much as her own. I have to say, I know nobody else like her.”

McClain hopes to raise enough money to finish production on her five-hour serialized documentary as well as creating online classes to help other women realize their creative dreams. As rewards to fans who donate to the cause, she’s offering up everything from signed photos to a pair of glitter pumps she wore to the 2010 Daytime Emmys! With two months to go, McClain is already well on her way to achieving her goal.
