AMC’s Willey & Irizarry Reunite!
It would be tough to imagine ALL MY CHILDREN’s Jack and David cavorting around Pine Valley as best friends, but their portrayers, Walt Willey and Vincent Irizarry, are delivering the next best thing: They’re joining forces in Mary Chase’s popular play, Harvey! In WilleyWorld Community Productions’ fourth annual summer play, Irizarry has taken on the part of Dr. Lyman Sanderson, and Willey will be dancing around the stage as — get this — the affable Elwood P. Dowd, who has an imaginary friend/rabbit named Harvey!
“It is a kind, gentle and very funny play,” Willey says of the show, which runs Friday, July 27, Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29, at the Ottawa High School auditorium in Ottawa, IL. “Once WWCP decided on doing Harvey, Vincent as Dr. Lyman Sanderson seemed perfect. [We’ve] known each other since I played his probation officer on GUIDING LIGHT back in the early ’80s. When he joined AMC, we always had a great time working together.”
Adds Irizarry, who follows in the footsteps of Julia Barr (Brooke), Jill Larson (Opal) and Taylor Miller (Nina) as the fourth AMC staple to star in one of Willey’s summer plays: “I’m very excited to have been asked by Walt to be a part of this production. I confess, I’ve never seen the movie, even though it’s considered a classic, (it’s now on the top of my ‘to see’ list), but once I read the play, I was truly charmed by the story and its characters. I’m so looking forward to working on it with my longtime friend and fellow actor from our Pine Valley days while spending a couple weeks this summer in Ottawa, which doesn’t sound too bad either!”
