AMC Stars Cast On CASTLE!

When ABC’s CASTLE airs its soap-themed episode next month, look for ALL MY CHILDREN stars Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) and Cameron Mathison (Ryan) to be joined by soap vet Corbin Bernsen (ex-Durant, GENERAL HOSPITAL) as stars of the fictional daytime drama TEMPTATION LANE.

In the episode titled “One Life To Lose,” Castle — played, of course, by ONE LIFE TO LIVE alum Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey) — and Beckett are called in to investigate the murder of a soap opera headwriter via fire axe after a TEMPTATION LANE fan blogs about her dissatisfaction with the sudser’s storylines. Naturally, Beckett and CAstle will quickly discover that the behind-the-scenes drama is just as scandalous! Bernsen will play Lance Buchanan, the soap’s main star, who happens to have quite the reputation as a ladies’ man — and a romantic history with Castle’s own mother! (The character’s name is a nod to Fillion’s run as Joey Buchanan.) Budig appears as TEMPTATION LANE diva Mandy Bronson, and Mathison is Vince Bowers, one of the soap’s directors and the devastated husband of the victim. Jane Seymour also guest-stars as Gloria, the grieving mother of the murdered soap scribe with a deep, dark secret she is desperate to keep.

Seamus Deaver (ex-Ian, GH) also stars alongside Fillion on CASTLE as Det. Kevin Ryan — and the crime drama’s creator/executive producer Andrew W. Marlowe tells Soaps In Depth that the two hunks gave him inspiration for the episode. “We were looking for way to honor of their background and have a little bit of fun,” he reveals.

The CASTLE episode “One Life To Lose” is tentatively scheduled to air on Monday, March 21, at 10:01 p.m. EST.
